Yvon and Fati Rannou
Much thought has gone into the redesign of this family home in Jumeirah Islands. With the help of Bamdad Faghihi’s Seeb Interior Design, what was once a typical layout has been transformed into a more practical and livable space for this French family. “Our main criterion was to create volume while maintaining a cosy atmosphere in our living rooms,” says Yvon.
The mix of flooring – from the bold concrete at the entrance, to the more traditional wooden flooring throughout and the renovated stairway with its seamless white marble – has created a dynamic contemporary style.
This modern twist is undeniably obvious in the kitchen, where an island dominates. “Our kitchen designers [Goettling Design] had a remit to make this a very functional and social space because we love cooking and entertaining,” says Yvon.
As for the furnishings, that was left very much to Yvon’s wife, Fati. Prize possessions include a painting from Iran, displayed in the main foyer. “The combination of traditional Iranian calligraphy and the modern environment is stunning,” says Yvon.
