World’s Ultimate Strongman returns to Dubai for its second year

The World’s Ultimate Strongman, in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council is set to take place at Meydan Grandstand on 25 October 2019.

More than 20 athletes will participate in the biggest competition the sport has ever seen, including the likes of Game of Thrones star Thor Bjomsson, who stands at an astonishing 6’9’’ feet will be looking to retain his title.

An average strongman participant weighs around 130-200 kilograms, which is somewhat the same weight class as a bear or a gorilla! With participants from countries such as Latvia, Ukraine, Norway and Russia, the strongman competition is not only a stag to earn bragging rights, but also an opportunity to take home 150,000 dollars.

The games will be judged by the four-time World Strongest Man, Zydrunas Savickas and the owner of Strongman Champions League, Ilkka Kinnunen.

The events list for the competition include Maximum Deadlift, Truck Pull, WUS Log Lift, Atlas Stones and WUS Sheild Carry, which will not only test the brute strength of the athletes, but also their mental toughness as well as their agility.

Superstar Strongmen such as Burkina Faso’s Cheick Sanou, who holds the Guinness World Record for the most overhead presses of a person in one minute (82), will surely be looking to make a statement in the competition.

Tickets for the event can be purchased, through the Worlds Ultimate Strongman website or at a UFC GYM. The World’s Ultimate Strongman will take place on Friday, 25 October at The Meydan Grandstand, Dubai.
