World's First Musical Performance in the Air Took Off

The world’s first ballet and musical performance in the air happened recently, thanks to Bolshoi Ballet and Katherine Jenkins, who staged the incredible show.

It was to celebrate the launch of British Airways’ Dreamliner flights from London Heathrow to Moscow, Russia. Passengers on the inaugural flight of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner managed to watch the surprise performance by Artemy Belyakob and Olga Marchenkova, stars from Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. Katherine Jenkins, who sang a rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, also accompanied the talented dancers.

The Welsh soprano commented, “such fun to be invited to perform for the first time at 41,000 feet ‘Somewhere over the Rainbow’ en route to Moscow on board British Airways new Dreamliner. I have always been excited to sing in Russia due to its deep and rich history in the arts, and performing alongside dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet was a very special experience for me.”
