Rihanna has shot down speculation she is set to play Poison Ivy in the forthcoming Batman film.
The actress addressed the rumours, which she sparked in a recent social media post promoting her new Fenty boots, at her Diamond Ball fundraiser on Thursday, and insisted fans, who had begun to speculate the singer was suiting up to play the stylish villain, had taken her comments too far.
"Are you serious?" she asked Entertainment Tonight. "That has nothing to do with Poison Ivy," referring to her Batman look of her new black boots.
But Rihanna did admit to having an obsession with the deadly character, portrayed on the big screen by Uma Thurman, revealing she once dyed her hair red after watching the Pulp Fiction star's portrayal of Ivy in 1997’s Batman and Robin, and would happily take on the part if studio bosses were interested in casting her.
“You know what, they didn’t call me yet,” she said. “But if they did, I would love to go in and try out because Poison Ivy is one of my obsessions in life. I did it for Halloween one year, I mean, come on!”
The latest Batman adaptation, directed by Matt Reeves, will star Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
