Team Ahlan! are currently sick with worry that one of our favourite super star DJs might not be able to perform in Dubai as planned.
Avicii is set to perform for a one off date on 4 April for a Live at Atlantis gig taking place on the Atlantis beach, however, his appearance is now in jeopardy after he cancelled a performance in the US this week.
The 24-year-old was due to DJ at Ultra Festival in Miami on Saturday night, but was replaced by deadmau5 after he was rushed to hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain, nausea and fever.
The festival released a statement saying: “[Avicii] has been diagnosed as having a blocked gall bladder and is currently being evaluated for a potential surgery to remove his gall bladder. He has had to cancel all his commitments for the week, including a highly anticipated performance last night at the Ushuaia Pop Up at the Avicii Hotel at SLS and his headline performance tomorrow at the Ultra Music Festival.”
His sickness proved to be even worse than first anticipated as it was discovered during the operation that he had a ruptured appendix too. The DJ tweeted: “Turns out I had a ruptured appendix on top of my sick gallbladder, both were removed during the operation. Now I feel like s**t but at least I’m on the road to recovery.”
According to medical doctors Avicii may need up to ten days to fully recover from the surgery and claim: “Most people can return to their normal activities in seven to 10 days. People who have laparoscopic gallbladder surgery are sore for about a week.” Fingers crossed he is fighting fit in time to rock the party on Friday night in Dubai.
