What to Watch at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival
The Wind Rises will have it Middle East premiere at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival

One for the movie buffs! The first Ajyal Youth Film Festival, presented by the Doha Film Institute, will be on from 26 to 30 November 2013, and the action kicks off with the MENA premiere of top anime film The Wind Rises by renowned filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

The Doha Film Institute will also be showcasing a fab lineup of films under the ‘Special Screenings’ segment, including a screening of Pascal Plisson’s On the Way to School, in collaboration with the  Education Above All Foundation (EAA), that's founded and chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser, in support of its Educate A Child programme.

A co-production between France and Mexico, On the Way to School follows four students – Jackson, Zahira, Samuel, and Carlito, from Morocco, Kenya, India, and Argentina, respectively – and depicts how they embark on an adventure scattered with challenges. Sounds fun!

A highlight of the ‘Special Screenings’ segment is the ‘Qatar Year of Culture Cinema Showcase’, marking the collaborative efforts of the Doha Film Institute with the British Council and Qatar Museums Authority, in celebrating the power of classic and contemporary films from the British canon. More to watch out for!

There'll also be lots more screenings including Arthur Landon’s Side by Side, Carioca Soul from Brazil and A Shout from Within by Jan Xavier Pacle from Qatar. See you at the fest!
