Weather update: Heavy rains expected to hit the UAE
Although it seems like summer is still lingering in parts of the UAE, weather reports claim that the country will be hit by rain and experience rough seas by Wednesday.
A forecaster from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said that the centre is expecting an increase in clouds, along with rain scattering in parts of the UAE by mid Wednesday. The weather centre has also noted an increase in temperature by two to four degrees bringing the temperatures to between 22 and 30 degrees on Monday. However, it is expected to change by Wednesday once the wind direction changes, resulting in a dip of two to four degrees overall in the UAE.
The Minister of Public Works has instructed its teams to prepare for the upcoming rainy season, as well as the possibility of heavy rain that might cause flooding. Parts of the UAE, including Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Sharjah’s Khor Fakkan, have already experienced heavy rains which unfortunately led to flooded streets and overflowing wadis.
Since parts of the country will continue to experience unstable weather, according to Gulf News, Sharjah Police's Traffic and Patrols Department have distributed flyers advising motorists and residents to stay alert and cooperate with the police.
