Following the Louisiana floods, Taylor Swift donated a whopping $1 million for relief efforts and now she’s donated a further $50,000 to the local public school officials.
Ascension Public School officials were given the money after five of their 27 facilities in the area were shut down when they were damaged by heavy rains.
David Alexander, Superintendent of Ascension Public Schools, said in a statement, “We are particularly honored that Taylor Swift is reaching out to us. Her investment in our children will have far reaching impacts as we recover from the flood.”
The public school officials also thanked the star on Twitter, “Thank you @taylorswift13 for your generous $50,000 donation to our schools' flood recovery!"
The star said, “We began The 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home. The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heart-breaking.”
Good work, Swifty!
