WHAT’S INVOLVED: Designed by celebrity fitness trainer David Kirsch who says you can "expect to lose up to 14lbs, five inches off your waist, and a heavy percentage of body fat during the first two weeks of the plan alone”. The Ultimate New York Body Plan follows a strict five meals per day programme. Intake of booze, bread, carbs, dairy and saturated fats are reduced to a minimum. This isn’t called the bootcamp of diets for no reason.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Stamina and willpower - this is not for the faint hearted
  • David Kirsch’s book to get the low-down on the various phases you have to follow while doing the diet
  • Gym membership. You need to work out hard at the same time as following the diet

VERDICT: The pro is, if you’re following it religiously, you see rapid results. However, the con is, if you don’t have willpower it will be extremely hard to follow. It’s great for a quick-fix solution but difficult for long-term commitments.
