Uber is introducing Teslas in Dubai
Tomorrow's a big day for Uber!
The ride-hailing app, in cooperation with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will be introducing Teslas from October 10.
The introduction of electric vehicles such as Teslas into Uber's fleet, comes as part of Dubai’s Smart Autonomous Mobility Strategy, which aims to transform 25 percent of total journeys in Dubai into autonomous journeys by 2030, and turn Dubai into the smartest city in mobility worldwide by 2020, reports Gulf News.
From Tuesday, Uber users will be able to book two models of the Tesla to ride in, the Model S or Model X. The fees for riding in the electric vehicle is expected to start at Dhs10, and charge Dh1.9 per kilometre, similar to UberBlack.
“We are tremendously excited to be the exclusive ride-hailing partner for this fleet of premium electric vehicles in Dubai, in partnership with Dubai Taxi Corporation, and for the clean vehicle technology to deliver out driver-partners and riders with more efficient, less-polluting mobility,” said Chris Free, general manager for Uber UAE.
We can't wait to try out the new Uber Teslas!
