Yesterday afternoon, Uber and Careem halted their services in Abu Dhabi, leaving everyone bewildered.
Uber has taken to their app to notify their uses that, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will suspend operations in Abu Dhabi effective immediately till further notice. In the meantime, we will keep you informed when operations resume. Thanks for understanding and apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Careem also said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we expect potential service interruptions in Abu Dhabi over the next few days. We work with licensed vehicles in Abu Dhabi and we are working closely with TransAD (taxi regulator service) to ensure both a reliable service and adherence to fleet requirements. We will make sure the distribution is minimal to our customers and thank them for their understanding during this time.”
The sudden interruption caused a barrage of customers to take to twitter where they asked when the services will be up and running. It has still not be said why both companies have stopped their services in Abu Dhabi but we’ll keep you updated!
