UAE's digital marketplace Noon will now trial driverless delivery vehicles!
Okay, so we're not exactly sure what difference this invention will make, but it sure sounds cool!
Digital marketplace Noon.com just announced it has partnered up with Chinese technology company Neolix to test out driverless delivery vehicles.
This delivery innovation was put forth as a solution to make last-mile delivery even smoother.
Noon's co-founder, Mohamed Alabbar, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese technology company Neolix to introduce autonomous delivery vehicles into the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Introducing this new technology will open a door of opportunities to introduce powerful Chinese tech to the world.
"Introducing new technology to the region that will improve the e-commerce experience for customers is something we're incredibly excited about. Noon is very proud to bring driverless delivery vans to the streets in our cities." Mohamed Alabbar said.
Noon.com will trial the driverless vehicles over the next few weeks to deliver items as quickly as possible in key areas of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
"We look forward to bringing many such innovations over the next few months. We are a hungry, talented, and ambitious nation. I hope it will inspire our tech-driven youth to dream big and to achieve those dreams because everything is possible here," Alabbar said.
What's even cooler is the fact that these vehicles will be especially customised to fit the region's weather conditions.
So what's next in line for the newest inventions? We sure hope it's flying cars...
