UAE set for IWAS World Games

30 Nov 2011

Sharjah is hosting the event for special sportspersons on 1 December

You can channel the sporting spirit, no matter what the challenge you face. That’s the idea behind The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sport (IWAS) World Games which open in Sharjah on 1 December, 2011.

The sixth IWAS World Games will see the participation of 49 countries from all over the world. This is the first time that the sporting event is being held in the Middle East.

The opening ceremony will be attended by all delegations of the participating countries (786 participants from 49 countries), as well as local and international sport stars from the participating countries.

And there's a lot of sport to look forward to! The IWAS World Games include all or a selection of the traditional sports (Archery, Athletics, Power-lifting, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby, Table Tennis and Volleyball) all of which are established Paralympic Games programme sports.

More power to the special athletes participating!
