Celebrating mothers, royal style

We celebrated Mother’s Day in UAE yesterday, and the country's rulers got involved with their own special tributes.

HH Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, paid a surprise visit to a widowed Emirati mother, Fatima Ibrahim Bin Sulaiman.

The heart-felt video posted on HH Sheikh Mohammad’s official Instagram account shows his highness humbly thanking Fatima, wife of late philanthropist Obeid Mohammed Abdullah Al Helou, for continuing her deceased husband’s legacy and contributing to various humanitarian causes around the country.

"On this Mother’s Day, I was glad to visit Fatima Ibrahim bin Suleiman, widow of Obeid Al Helou. I had heard a lot about her – she is an Emirati mother who devotes herself not only to her family, but also to her community. We thank her, and all mothers, today and every day," HH Sheikh Mohammad captioned the video.

Fatima Ibrahim was over-joyed by the surprise visit from his highness and is seen telling him that it’s a huge honour for her while Sheikh Mohammad humbly replies that meeting her in person is an honour for him.

HH. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, can also be seen sitting with his father.

Have a look:

While the Ruler of Dubai was paying a tribute to all the mothers of UAE in his own special way, his wife, HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein also took to her Instagram account and posted an adorable picture of her son, Sheikh Zayed and his special Mother’s Day message to her.

Looks like the little royal went to great lengths to remind his mother how much he loves her with a cute DIY ‘I Love You’ message.

"Thank you my darling Zayed for this lovely message", HRH Princess Haya captioned the picture.
