UAE President Releases 704 Prisoners On The Occasion Of Eid Al Adha

Ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha, the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has pardoned 704 prisoners.

They will be released on Monday 20 August and, according to WAM, "The pardon comes as part of Shaikh Khalifa’s keenness to provide the prisoners with a chance to begin their life anew and alleviate the suffering of their families."

The pardoned prisoners were jailed for a variety of minor offences, majority of them consisting of financial crimes.

Apart from setting them free, the HH Sheikh Khalifa has also declared that he will cover financial obligations of the prisoners being released. This is being done to 'give the convicted an opportunity to start a new life and to relieve their families from pain and suffering.'
