According to an interview with CNBC, executive director of National Electronic Security Authority Mohamed Al Kuwaiti says that the UAE is increasingly collaborating with big internet-based platforms, including Whatsapp.

Based on the telecommunications department in the UAE, there is a VERY GOOD chance of the voice call ban being lifted. Yay for those who have near and dear ones far away!

As of now, to replace the absence of a voice call, UAE residents use the voice recording option instead.

The only apps that are permissible to use in the region include Botim, YzerChat and C’me.
