UAE Labourers to Light up the Screen
Champ of the Camp

A movie set in the UAE's labour camps is set to get its big screen debut at the Dubai International Film Festival. Champ of the Camp is the first ever feature-length documentary made in the UAE labor camps. Plus film fans will be able to see the movie for free outside.

It will be shown at Screen on the Green at Burj Park in Downtown Dubai, a new plan to offer free public screenings as part of the festival, which runs from 6-14 December.

The film, made by Mahmoud Kaabour, will be introduced by Bollywood star Jaaved Jaffrey on Saturday, 7 December at 8pm. It can also be seen at Vox Cinemas, Mall of the Emirates during the Festival

The flm follows a Bollywood singing and trivia competition that searches across more than 70 camps throughout the country to find and crown the 'champ of all camps'.

Narrated and sung entirely in the voices of the laborers, the film alternates between the X Factor-style suspense of the competition and the men's daily routines as laborers in Dubai.
