Fashionsitas lined up to have their photos taken against a backdrop in Galeries Lafayette, our fave department store in Dubai. Their images were then posted on their Facebook site and voted upon by the public.

Samantha was one of 10 lucky winners – and we caught up with her in Paris after her debut catwalk show to get some style tips.

How did you feel when you found out that you had been picked out of hundreds of hopefuls to join Galeries Lafayette Dubai in Paris for the biggest fashion show in the world?
Amazed! I have this little book with 100 things to do before you die, and one of the tasks is to get in the Guinness Book of Records, which I can now check of my list!

Who was the first person you told about your win?
My boyfriend and my best friend Romy Rose! They were promoting me so much during the whole competition, and that made it so much fun to participate!

Who was the second person?
Is Facebook a person?!

Do you blog?
Yes, I do! I started my own blog named Style is Necessity (SIN) –  By researching  fashion, design and art all over the world I stay updated and share my opinions and things I love with others.

Who are your style icons?
I love Rachel Zoe. Her style is amazing and she is one of the few stylists who managed to get worldwide famous. I also love Victoria Beckham who always manages to look perfect (without cracking her porcelain smile) – her label is super fashionable and sophisticated.

What are your favourite colours this season and which do you wear together?
Cobalt blue and burgundy are my favourite colours for winter. They’re so elegant and rich.

And what about this season’s trends?
I love small details of black leather – it can make an outfit look a bit more edgy, if it's not overdone. I also love hair jewellery and accesories. Especially cute flowers and stones on headbands.

What are your favourite labels?
Balenciaga, Jason wu, Zadig et Voltaire and the Dubai-based label Shrekanth. But I love to combine brands with non-branded stuff. Buying a label doesn't necessarily mean you’ve got style. Everyone can buy a branded dress off a rack in a high-end store, but only once you combine a lot of different pieces to reflect your personality will you create your own style. I love to buy at vintage markets in Europe, crazy markets in Asia, and in fast moving fashion stores like Topshop and Primark.

Golden rules of fashion?
If you have style, you can pull anything off - except for sunglasses at night or in the mall!

What suitcase essentials did you pack for the Galeries Lafayette trip?
My bird headpiece for the fashion show and my YSL boots that I bought in Dubai (which finally got a chance to see daylight!); my camera to capture memories and my MacBook, to keep my blog readers updated!
