Employers will now hold responsibility for their expat employee's Emirates ID Cards

Expat workers will be happy to hear that they are set to save over Dhs200 on their Emirates ID card renewal, as their employers now have to pay the cost.

The Emirates Identity Authority has created the new rule which means that sponsors now have to pay for the national ID cards of their employees.

The cards are now being issued as part of an employee’s residence visa processing, the cost of which also falls to sponsors. It’s now their responsibility to apply for and renew the ID cards of their employees.

While there has been no date set for the rule to be implemented by, employers are encouraged to take on the responsibility immediately.
