Ready, Set, Pink! Event At Bloomingdale's Bergen County

Dine in Dubai and Fight Breast Cancer in the UAE!

28 Aug 2014

Brookfield Multiplex Perfect Pink Ball at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai will support vital outreach work across the UAE

A mammoth bash in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month is being held in Dubai.

Tickets are now on sale for the Brookfield Multiplex Perfect Pink Ball, with all proceeds going to Pink Caravan, the breast cancer initiative by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) Society. The all-inclusive banquet dinner is a black-tie affair, although adding a touch of pink is definitely encouraged!

FoCP is a volunteer-based charitable society which offers financial and emotional support to cancer patients and their families all over the UAE. Through its nationwide breast cancer initiative the Pink Caravan, it’s provided free breast cancer screenings to 28,091 people – both women and men – since 2011. It strongly emphasises the importance of detecting cancer as soon as possible; as the society frequently underlines, breast cancer has a survival rate as high as 98 per cent if caught at an early stage.

A core part of its mission is to raise awareness by visiting communities to disseminate the facts and challenge the cultural taboos commonly associated with breast cancer, and to make regular self-examination and screenings the norm. More widely, FoCP provides guidance and assistance – in the form of practical, financial, moral, educational and medical support – for patients of many types of cancers and their loved ones. It supports all UAE residents and nationals, of all races, religions and cultural backgrounds.

FoCP is a charitable and volunteer-based society. Over the past decade, it’s developed strong relationships with government bodies, the private sector and NGOs alike, providing a platform for positive collaboration upon which to exchange knowledge, information, resources and professional skills. It was established in 1999 in accordance with the directives and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed AI-Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FoCP), International Ambassador of the World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC.

The event has been organised by construction firm Brookfield Multiplex.
