The Address Downtown was the subject of a selfie

Two young men who were arrested after they posted a selfie online of The Address Downtown while it was on fire have been released from jail.

The two males were arrested after the selfies they took during the hotel’s fire on New Year’s Eve were posted across social media.

According to The National, Essam Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, explained that the prosecutor’s office set the two men free “after an investigation and review of the image”.

They reported: “The public prosecution has closed the case since no evidence of criminal intent was established, according to Wam, the state news agency.”

In addition Essam Al Humaidan also warned the public to be careful and thoughtful when posting any material on social media and called on “all individuals to adhere to laws by refraining from spreading rumours, defaming others or violating other people’s freedom online.”
