WHERE: The Doll house, Jumeirah Ladies Club, Dubai, 04 385 4484,

HOW LONG: An epic seven hours, since I got basic highlights and a cut in addition to the ombre dye. Usually the ombre alone would take two to three hours, including a blow-dry.
HOW MUCH: From Dhs450 for the colour, plus Dhs150 for a blow-dry, and Dhs150 for a cut.
THE TREATMENT: I love the celebrity trend for coloured hair and spent ages looking for a salon in Dubai where I could get this done. The Doll House in Jumeirah Ladies Club specialises in funky beauty trends (check out their amazing nail art on Facebook) and said they could give me ‘Barbie’ pink hair. My highlights also needed doing, so two stylists tackled this task first, before adding extra bleach to the ends of my hair, and then the pink dye.
THE RESULTS: It took seven hours including a haircut and blow-dry, but I totally loved the results. Originally I was told the pink would grow out, but this was a misunderstanding. After three washes the pink colour was gone. When I asked at the salon about this, the stylist said it’s not designed to last and is “just a fashion colour”. If you’re prepared to get pink ‘top-ups’ this is a fab, if short-lived pop of colour for tired locks.
