WHAT: A Swedish massage with a twist in the form of Thalgo Balm
WHERE: InterContinental Doha The City Hotel, West Bay, 4401 58888
HOW LONG: 55 minutes
THE TREATMENT: There’s just one treatment suite within the Health & Fitness Club on level 46 of the InterContinental Doha The City Hotel, and there are just two treatments on offer: professional sports massage or classic Swedish. We opted for the latter and decided to try it with Thalgo Balm instead of traditional oil. Swedish massage is all about long deep rhythmic strokes using the thumbs and heals of the hands to manipulate muscles into relaxed mode. The balm had a silicone-like texture that seemed to form a protective seal over the skin – I could still feel  it even after showering.
THE RESULTS: Following the massage, I felt less tense. Best of all, I could slip into the Jacuzzi and enjoy the magnificent skyline views of West Bay – at night it’s a soothing sight and the perfect conclusion to ‘me-time’.
