The seaweed wrap – whiffy but worth it!

WHERE: Waldorf Astoria Spa, Vienna Street, Ras Al Khaimah, 07 203 5555
HOW LONG: 60 minutes
HOW MUCH: Dhs470
THE TREATMENT: The brand new spa at the Waldorf Astoria RAK really is one of the lushest I’ve ever been to and is perfect for a weekend of pampering! Before my treatment even started I was shown into the relaxation area, which featured three types of showers to refresh myself in, as well as a herbal steam room and sauna. I spent around an hour just unwinding in there! Then my treatment began. To start with, I was given a full body scrub with a wire brush. This made me a little sore, but it did feel as though it was removing all my dead skin – great! After this, my therapist explained how my entire body would be covered in seaweed! She showed me the seaweed leaves before wrapping me top-to-toe in the sticky strands. It was a bit smelly but felt warm and soft. Next I was swathed in towels followed by a thermal body suit. My therapist buttoned me up and cranked up the heat before leaving me for 30 minutes to cook in the seaweed. The vegetation was then removed before I hopped into a warm shower. Finally, moisturiser was applied to my skin to ensure it was super-soft!
THE RESULTS: After my treatment I felt so relaxed I could have fallen asleep! Luckily I could chill out in the relaxation area, which came complete with a sea view! My skin felt super-smooth for several days afterwards, and my therapist told me how the treatment would improve my circulation. I’ll definitely be going back for more.
