Treatment Review: MESOTHERAPY, Tested by Kerry

18 Jul 2013

We test out the luxurious Mesotherapy

WHAT: Mesotherapy Facial
WHERE:  Al Asalla Spa, Dubai Ladies Club, Jumeirah Beach Road, Dubai, 04 344 9445
HOW LONG: 60 minutes
HOW MUCH: Dhs450 per session, or Dhs1,650 for six
THE TREATMENT:  It’s not often I would volunteer to have my face pricked with hundreds of tiny needles, but hearing that the process would stimulate my skin to regenerate (I read this as “make me look younger”) I was willing to give it a go. The Al Asalla Spa is decorated in traditional Arabic style. There's lots of Morrish-style arches, cosy relaxation areas, trickling fountains and dark winding, candlelit corridors. The two brands used in the treatment are Decleor and Dermalogica. After a thorough cleanse, and a quick examination under a bright spotlight, Ofelia, my Filipino therapist, confirmed that yes, I was a victim of ‘fine lines’ (I knew that already). So she decided to use an anti-wrinkle serum for my treatment. Other serums include those that tackle pigmentation or scarring.
Using a small roller device covered with tiny needles, she rolled it gently across my face creating tiny dermal channels allowing the serum to instantly reach the middle layer of my skin. Apparently, the skin needling process has been shown to absorb active ingredients up to 40 times more effectively. And even better, although I could feel the pricks, it really didn’t hurt. Ofelia did say the process would leave my face slightly red, so to reduce this redness she performed reflexology on my feet. I then retired to the relaxation area to sip ginger tea and nibble on dates and walnuts.
THE RESULTS:  As well as being a completely relaxing experience, I really felt that my skin was being completely nourished. The fine lines – while obviously still there – seemed less pronounced and overall my skin was glowing, even days later. However, they do advise you sign up to six sessions to see the ultimate results – where do I sign?
