TREATMENT: They don’t use the term ‘customised’ loosely at Spa CORDON; you even get to choose the music that plays while your treatment is on (I picked the sounds of the ocean for mine). But let’s begin at the beginning. The spa’s a nice little beauty oasis in the heart of DIFC, done in super-soothing shades with vibrant jeweled touches on the walls. Right at the reception you get to see the ingredients that go into your personalised pampering session i.e. the custom combination. So you select what goes into your natural scrub/mud wrap, massage and facial (using all natural ingredients and top-of-the-line products) from the cute countertop. I picked black seed, almond oil and citrus for my scrub and massage and followed my therapist Lili’s bespoke blend (more on that ahead) for my facial.
Among its other properties, black seed is quick to hydrate the skin. I felt it right away, plumper skin, without being oily, during the scrub that was just the right side of cleansing,. The almond oil, packed with Vitamin E, has a similar effect. And being light, it does its work even better. Think easy sheen for the skin. Add the deep tissue massage administered expertly by Lili to this and it’s stairway to relaxation.
The facial began with a honey cleanser, followed by a deft massage. Up next was a creamy banana milk mask, removed later with a hot towel. A touch of orange and cooling cucumber were applied on my face after this, and to further the fresh effect after the green slices were taken off, a really cold towel was added on at the end.
RESULTS: Large open pores have always been a problem for me because of my oily skin so I was really happy to see that my pores looked definitively smaller. And of course my skin felt really soft to the touch, as did my body. Overall, it was a very relaxing experience. Considering that you actually get three treatments, it’s good value for money too. I’d definitely go back!
