TOWIE’s Amy Childs Launches Beauty Product...
Ahlan!’s Lyn went on location in London to uncover the latest goss from our fave reality show, The Only Way is Essex, and discovered star Amy Childs is ready to give Katie Price a run for her money with her first perfume launch...
You’ve just launched your new eponymous fragrance in the UK. What was the inspiration behind it?
Loads of young girls were like, “Amy you have to bring out your own perfume!” I mean, I love smelling good as well, I’m into how I smell and how I look and everything, so I was like, “Oh my god, I have to bring out my own perfume!” It’s so much hard work, but it’s another string.
We spotted you at this year’s Dubai World Cup and know you’re a big fan of the Emirates – will you be launching your perfume here too?
I’d really love to, because I love Dubai so much. There’s a Harvey Nics and all the designer stores, which are great for my products, and I love the architecture and the people. It’s so elegant. I go to Mahiki a lot, I went there every night last time I was there, and I go to Movida too.
Which celebs would you like to have wearing your fragrance?
I’d love Victoria Beckham wearing it because she’s such an icon. I’m going to gift her a bottle. I would also like Kate Middleton to wear the perfume because she is so girlie; I’ll gift her one too.
We hear glamour model entrepreneur Katie Price is your idol, and you appear to be following in her footsteps with the Amy Childs brand, with a fragrance, eyelashes, clothing range and beauty salon already under your belt. Is Katie still your idol, or do you think you’ve eclipsed her success?
The press made a massive thing out of her being my idol and how I wanted to marry Peter Andre, which I really don’t. I’m my own person and I’ve never done topless modelling either. I’m so different, I’m actually a table tennis player – oh my god, no knows this but I am actually number two in Essex.
Win Amy’s perfume!
It’s not even launched in the UAE, but we’ve got a bottle to give away. To win, tweet #WeLoveTOWIE on our Twitter page @AhlanLive before 6 September 2012.
