We say: In trying to create a fragrance range that represents simplicity, Tous has presented us with something rather more complicated than your average scent collection: two different compositions, of which one is launched in two variations, packaged in three different coloured bottles. Do try to keep up, ladies... ahem...

L’Eau de Parfum is in the pink bottle (mandarin, lemon, floral chord, freesia, jasmine, peony, black currant, patchouli, white musk and amber); L’Eau de Toilette is in the blue bottle (bergamot, grapefruit, orange blossom, lavender, cedar, vetiver, patchouli and musk), and the beige L’Eau pour le Corps is a body mist version of pink one.

The compositions are sound, with the pink L’Eau being predictably feminine and floral, while the blue L’Eau has more masculine energising qualities, but the use of different compositions and colours is needlessly fussy. If Tous really wanted simple, they should have made the packaging white and called them one, two and three.

They say: “L’Eau de Parfum is the serene joy of flowers and musk – a creation by Nathalie Lorson... L’Eau de Toilette is the optimism and the lightness of citrus and wood – a fragrance by Daphne Bugey; L’Eau p our le Corps is the delicacy of citric oils and aloe vera – a body mist created by Nathalie Lorson with a light concentration and relaxing ingredients.”
