Now here's something you don't read about every day!

A British tourist recently forgot a Dhs100,000 watch at a hotel here in Dubai, and Dubai Police made it their mission to return it to her.

Colonel Rashid bin Safwan, director of the police's lost and found department, said workers found the priceless Rolex watch in her hotel room after she had checked out, reports Khaleej Times. They handed it over to the police, who then reached out to her in an effort to return the timepiece.

"She was happy that the watch was found and said she would collect it when she came to Dubai next. When she did not turn up, we considered shipping it to her. However, we decided against it as we did not want it to get lost."

A whole nine months passed, and despite the police's constant follow-up, the woman did not return to Dubai to claim her watch. Coincidentally, some time later, a Dubai Police delegation was invited to a conference in London. An officer suggested that the delegation visiting the city take the watch with them and personally deliver it to her, and they did just that!

Can you imagine the look on her face when Brigadier-General Saeed Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Malik, director of the Rashidiya police station, met her and handed over her precious watch?

The woman could not thank the police enough for their thoughtful gesture.

Here's to our kind and considerate Police force!
