Out of all the Tinseltown body transformations, Kelly Osbourne’s change from overweight and unhappy reality TV star into sexy and svelte ‘It’ girl has been the most shocking. Hitting the stage in LA last week, alongside Carmen Electra and Mya for a PussyCat Dolls show, Kelly stunned the VIP guests with her tiny new figure, the result of gruelling daily gym sessions and a complete diet overhaul.
“She looked amazing, you could literally hear the audience whispering to one another about the change,” spilled a source at LA’s Viper Room where the show took place. And while Kel publicly credits her new body with a “change in lifestyle”, pals say it’s also her way of sticking it to her ex-fiance Luke Worrall.
“For all her talk of changing her eating habits – which she certainly has done – the main reason for her slimdown was so that Luke would see her in the magazines and wonder what he threw away,” spilled a pal. “She was devastated when they split, but rather than indulge in comfort food like she used to, this time she hit the gym to work though her emotions.” Adding, “The only problem is, when she’s finally over him, what’s going to keep her motivated? It all seems like a bit of a short-term solution.”
Australian pop star-turned-actress Sophie piled on the weight following her broken engagement from Benji Madden in February 2008, taking her skinny size zero frame up to a size eight in the space of a few months. And that, coupled with a string of appearances in straight-to-DVD movies, saw the actress bingeing on junk food to cope with her failing career.
“She hit the KFC hard,” spilled a source. “It’s her favourite comfort food whenever she feels down.” Whilst a party pal added, “She was also going out drinking every night, which made her look bloated.” And Sophie herself lamented her figure, insisting, “I have big boobs, which I hate. They are so annoying. I wish they were smaller.”
But after taking over a year to recover from her love split, Sophie is back on the diet wagon, apparently existing on strawberries, diet coke, ice tea and cigarettes – “She’s on a very low-calorie diet,” spilled a mole. “She was appalled at how big she had let herself become and admitted that a lot of it had to do with not being around Nicole Richie all the time, and trying to keep up with her skinniness.”
Of the current crop of starlets in Hollywood, only Amanda Seyfried has had the guts to stand up and say what the whole of Tinseltown knows but would never admit to.
“If I’d been a bit bigger, I don’t think they would have cast me for Mamma Mia!” admits the 24-year-old. Adding, “If I didn’t run and work out, there’s no way I would be this thin.”
And the super-skinny actress is never spotted going out for dinner, sharing Madonna and Carrie Underwood’s opinion that restaurant food is the route to diet disaster.Instead, Amanda lives on raw foods, recently revealing, “Yesterday for lunch [I had] spinach. Just spinach. Spinach and some seeds.” Adding that she’ll add cucumber to her plate as a treat. And that’s not the only strict rules the Letters To Juliet star lives by – “I live, eat and sleep by an exercise schedule,” she admits.
In a shocking new upcoming book about Lady Gaga, written by her former tour manager David Ciemny, he alleges that the singer was hospitalised six times throughout 2009, after continuously bingeing then starving herself in order to fit into her eclectic range of stage costumes.
“When I say she was sick, I mean mentally and physically,” writes Ciemny. Adding that she would follow up junk food and sweets binges with weeks of barely eating – at one point losing nine kilos between costume fittings.
And things came to a head during her video for Paparazzi, on the set of which her video co-star, True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard, allegedly made her cry by making nasty comments about her weight, setting the star on the route to her current size double-zero frame – “She says she is always hungry,” revealed a pal. “She isn’t doing a specific diet. She just isn’t eating anything.”
