Top Turtle Power at Madinat Jumeirah
Catch the race at Madinat Jumeirah

It's an
amazing sight to see a beach strewn with turtles slowly make their way
back into the ocean. And it's a view guaranteed every year at the annual turtle
release at Madinat Jumeirah.

Open
for public viewing for the first time, the event will be hosted by Virgin
Radio's Kris Fade. And you'll be able to see children release a 100 hawksbill turtles back into
their marine habitat. These turtles were earlier guests at Burj Al Arab and
Madinat Jumeirah, where they were rehabilitated for several months.

Adding
a fun twist to the event, six rehabilitated turtles will be competing in The Big
Jumeirah Turtle Race, organised by the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project. All turtles will be tagged with a satellite device to
track their progress and monitor their whereabouts in the earth’s oceans. They are
sponsored by different Jumeirah properties, and the one who gets ahead in this
race home will be crowned the winner of The Big Race.

INFO: Free entry, 8.30am onwards, Friday 29 June, Madinat Jumeirah, www.facebook.com/turtle.rehabilitation.
