Get Your Groove on at Sandance
Fri 15 Nov
The second Sandance of the season brings another top line-up to Nasimi Beach. British funk band Jamiroquai headlines, and we’re expecting suave leading man Jay Kay to bring some Virtual Insanity to the sand. Also on the bill is American disco legend Nile Rodgers and his band Chic. He’s the talent behind 40 years of hits including Le Freak, I Want Your Love, Good Times and I’m Coming Out, as well as recent smash Get Lucky with Daft Punk. British urban act Rudimental, who have just scooped Best Album at the MOBO Awards, are also appearing, plus dance faves Basement Jaxx will take to the stage. Completing the bill are DJs Martin Solveig, Laidback Luke and Richard Durand.

New! Check out Dubai’s New Club, Fleurs
Thu 14 & fri 15 Nov
Yet another hip new club has popped up in Dubai. Fleurs, named after the French word for flowers, encourages revellers to throw blooms at the performers, who include resident singer Shaya – who has worked with David Guetta – and Stefania, who found fame on the French version of The Voice. The tradition is believed to have begun in ancient Greece, when crowds threw plates or flowers to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. As well as boasting unique decor inside, its exterior is pretty impressive too – it’s shaped like an origami flower!
INFO: Dhs3,000 minimum spend per table for six to eight people, 11pm-3am Thu & Fri, Radisson Royal Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, 050 913 9148, www.fleursclub.com
See the Dubai Air Show
Mon 18-Thu 21 Nov
Is that the Top Gun theme we hear? Some of the world’s most impressive aircraft are flying in for Skyview, part of the Dubai Airshow. This public event lets you watch feats of aviation from the F/A-18 fighter and UAE aerobatic team, Al Fursan. Catch the aeronautical action at the grandstand of the new Dubai World Central airport near Jebel Ali. British expats will be pleased to see the Red Arrows show off their skills for the first time in the Middle East. We’re just disappointed it’s not being held over a weekend.
