World and Arab Freestyle Football Championship

Get practicing those keepy-uppys for the Arab leg of the Freestyle Football Championship. Officially dubbed the art of juggling of football, the top 16 freestylers will be in town. Football legend, Maradona, who lives in Dubai will the guest of honour.

Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship driven by Mini
Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May
Rev up for this epic event which will see drivers tackle 600 laps as part of the second round of this year’s championship. The race begins at 9pm and the drivers won’t complete the race until 9am the next morning. Dubai Autodrome also offers the chance for you to get behind the wheel too, with cars including the Audi TT available to hire. There’s also an indoor Kartdrome which caters for kids with the need for speed!

If you’re a seafood fan, Long’s Bar at Towers Rotana literally has buckets of the stuff. Throughout May, they’re offering guests their crab and prawns promo, where you can choose between a heaped bucketful of crabs or prawns, cooked how you like in your favorite sauce. The bar, as its name suggests, is said to be the longest in the Middle East, and is styled on an American pub.

Al Gaffal Traditional Dhow Race
Saturday 18 May
Last year almost 100 vessels were entered in this epic race which sees the traditional 60ft boats race from an off-shore island to the towering skyscrapers of Dubai Marina.
It was set up to honor the tradition which saw pearl divers and fishermen make their final stop on the island of Sir Bu Nair, 50 miles west of the UAE, before heading back to dry land.
