1 Petra Ecclestone’s Candyland
Los Angeles, USA
Petra, 23-year-old daughter of Formula 1 billionaire Bernie, splashed out on this $85 million home featuring three hair salons, a cinema, bowling alley, a split-level walk-in closet and a “motor court” for 100 cars. Formerly owned by Aaron Spelling, the 5,296sq m French Chateau-style property was refurbished by interior designer Gavin Brodin (and 500 workers!).

2 P Diddy’s Pad
Miami, USA
Man-made Star Island is Miami’s glitterati enclave; everyone from Shakira to Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova call this South Beach haven home. P Diddy’s two-storey, 1,812sq m, nine-bedroom mansion, for which he paid Dhs53 million in 2003 and which used to belong to record label boss (and Mariah Carey’s ex-husband) Tommy Mottola, even comes with its own private boat dock.

3 Madonna’s Apartment
New York City, USA
Her Madgesty’s Dhs118 million, Georgian-style, four-storey mansion in Manhattan’s exclusive Upper East Side boasts 13 bedrooms, complete with a 280sq m garden. Her major renovation? Beefed-up security, including additional gates to keep out paparazzi.

4 Sultan of Brunei’s Istana Nural Iman palace
Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Built in 1984 for Dhs1.5 billion, the Sultan’s 200,000sq m palace features 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms, five swimming pools, an air-conditioned stable for the Sultan’s 200 polo ponies, a 110-car garage, a banquet hall that can accommodate 5,000 guests, and a mosque for 1,500 worshippers.

5 Richard Branson’s The Lodge
Verbier, Switzerland
If you fancy a taste of the mega-celebrity lifestyle, Richard Branson’s luxury ski lodge is available to rent (for between Dhs183,000 and Dhs309,000 a week). The Lodge can comfortably sleep 18 guests, and entertain them with its spa, indoor and outdoor pools, ice rink, two bars and a state-of-the-art games room.

6 Bruce Willis’ The Residence Parrot Cay,
Turks and Caicos
Hollywood legend Bruce’s five-bedroom holiday home comes complete with 21m x 14m heated infinity pool and a glassed-in seating area (there are two three-bedroom guest villas attached). His neighbours at the prestigious Parrot Cay resort include Keith Richards, Donna Karan and Christie Brinkley – also, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married there. The car-free island is only accessible by boat, surrounded by azure waters, white sand beaches and coral reefs; best of all, mere mortals can rent Bruce’s slice of paradise by the week.

7 John Travolta’s Jumbolair home
Ocala, USA
Not content with a driveway, avid aviator Travolta – who is qualified to fly a Boeing 747 – has invested in a home-airport hybrid, complete with a vintage Qantas aircraft and a Gulfstream parked on his drive, just off the main runway. Did we mention there is also an air traffic control tower?

8 Oprah Winfrey’s Promised Land
Montecito, USA
The 200,000sq m, six bedroom estate in California, bought by the talk show queen for Dhs184 million in 2001, now boasts a man-made lake populated with rare fish, a rose garden, a tea house (her favourite refuge) and a massive home theatre.

9 Jada Pinkett and Will Smith’s mansion
Calabasas, USA
The 2,325sq m, Dhs441 million, nine-bedroom Malibu abode boasts a meditation room, a lake and tennis courts. But it is the mansion’s design that truly sets it apart. Unconventional geometry and a circular floor plan ensure there are “no dead ends… to create an infinite cycle that represented what Jada and I hoped for our love” – so says the man of the house, Will Smith.

10 Brangelina’s Chateau Miraval
Brignol, France
Surrounded by a forest, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s 25-bedroom, 4,100,000sq m estate on the French Riviera comes complete with a moat, 25 fountains and ponies for the Jolie-Pitt brood. The celebrity couple snapped up the property for Dhs200 million four years ago and it is hotly tipped to be the site of their nuptials.
