Ten years from now... I want to be raising Dhs500 million a year for African and Middle Eastern charities

As one of the UAE’s top personal trainers and the owner of fitness firm PTX Dubai, Tom has his work cut out for him. He’s transformed figures from flab to fab in record time – and he’s also the brand ambassador for sports giant Nike Middle East, where he holds the role of head coach. If the thought of taking on two jobs isn’t enough to make your head spin, he’s also supporting the region’s charities through a partnership with the world’s largest fundraising platform. has helped UK charities reap over $2.5 billion (Dhs9.2bn) since 2002 by simplifying the donations process. The innovative site enables fundraisers to create the online equivalent of a sponsorship form and share it via social media, allowing friends to donate at the click of a mouse. Last year, Tom helped to launch a sister platform for Middle Eastern and African charities. More impressive yet, he raised $1.3 million (Dhs4.8m) for Prince Harry’s Sentebale charity, which helps vulnerable children in Lesotho. Meanwhile, Tom’s creating a smartphone app he hopes will change the face of Islamic alms-giving, or zakat, called, which will come to fruition later this year.
