Tom Jones Rocks Doha

Tom Jones Rocks Doha

Tom Jones gave a magnificent performance for his Qatar fans, including a countdown of some of his biggest hits...

Looking suave, Tom Jones gave a delighted Doha crowd a night to remember when he took to the stage at the InterContinental Doha beach for his first ever Qatar show on Tuesday (17 September) evening.

Kicking off with some tunes from his latest album, Sir Tom was in top form as he delivered with gusto a swathe of hit songs which included What’s New Pussycat, Green, Green Grass of Home, S** Bomb and, of course, Delilah.

A smoking hot rendition of You Can Leave Your Hat On, which Jones covered for the soundtrack of the hit Brit comedy The Full Monty, and the cheeky Mama Told Me (Not To Come), which he performed last year at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert in London, were also highlights.

Even a power cut which left Sir Tom and the band cooling their heels for five minutes (one wag in the crowd yelled out "Welcome to Doha!"),  didn’t detract from the top show, organised by Alive Entertainment, Iconic Qatar, and the Intercontinental.

On a side note, though, we bet Sir Tom gave his stylist a dressing down when he got off stage for letting him go out in a black suit on a swelteringly humid Doha night. Aah, them’s the breaks, we guess. Hopefully the inflatable Welsh dragon bopping about in the crowd cheered him up...
