Toko, VIDA DOWNTOWN, DUBAI
The Japanese haunt is popular with the A-list. Celebs like French Montana, Tyrese and Will Smith have dined at Toko, while Kim Kardashian hosted her own dinner at the restaurant when she was in Dubai last year.
Soak up the Zen in the outside terrace, which resembles a Japanese garden. An umbrella-covered ceiling, lush greenery, bright murals spanning the walls and water features all add to the tranquil feel.
The menu is expansive, with no lack of sushi rolls. The California maki, crab and avocado rolls were our chosen picks, but fish fans will also like the super fresh sashimi, with tuna, salmon, hamachi, seabass and prawns on offer.
If you’re seated inside in the sleek dark wood interior, you can watch the chefs hard at work. The open kitchen is a hive of activity, with fish and meat being sliced, flames being fanned and dishes being served up.
Presentation is key, especially with the desserts. Our yuzu cheesecake with Chantilly cream and meringue came presented in a giant glass, displaying all the different layers of deliciousness.
