2017 has been touted as the year of long weekends!
Now, as the year approaches its end, lets take a look and see how many long weekends are left on the calendar.
Thursday, August 31: Arafat Day
The second day of Hajj, titled Arafat, is an important day for Muslims around the world and is a holiday in the UAE. As Arafat is the day before Eid Al Adha, expect a long weekend at the end of this month from Thursday, August 31 until Saturday, September 2.
Thursday, September 21: Islamic New Year
While this holiday is subjet to moon sightings, it is most likely to fall on a Thursday, meaning yay, long weekend!
Thursday, November 30: Commemoration Day
In 2015, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, declared November 30 a holiday to honour Emiratis who have died fighting for and defending their country. This holiday, combined with the weekend and the National Day holidays, which will fall on Saturday December, 2 - Sunday, December 3 means there will be one last long weekend on the cards for us in December.
