A staggering Dhs30,000 of fraudulent donations have been seized this year already
The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) have announced that there have been 38 fundraising violations through which the amount collected is Dhs 32,189. This is from the inspections conducted in the first half of 2019.
This report was issues by The Office Of Zakat and Charitable Affairs and it was a part of their plan to keep track of the donation boxes and making sure they abide by the directive approved by the department.
The management is required to inspect donation and fundraising sites regularly so that the main directive is followed which is Decree No.5 of 2015 - reporting of unauthorized donation boxes, unofficial fundraising campaigns or unofficial fundraising practices.
Though the IACAD encourages the public to make donations and support fundraising events, they also would appreciate that this be done in accordance with the laws of the country. This is mainly done to be sure the funds will be reaching those in need and be used for the intended purpose.
