The UAE has launched a new online service for stranded residents

The UAE has announced a service for residents stuck outside the country, following the closure of borders.

The new service, titled Tawajudi, is operated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The new service is for residents with valid residencies and who are outside the country, following the announcement on March 19, that UAE residents would not be permitted back in the country, aiming to mitigate the spread of coronavirus. This service aims to facilitate their safe return to the UAE in emergency situations.

National news agency WAM states: “This unprecedented step spurs from the keenness of the UAE and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to ensure the health and safety of residents on its land and facilitate their return to the country in emergency cases.”
