Fans of extreme sport, you’re in for a treat. The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is back, and this year the UAE is brand new to the calendar as Dubai Marina gets set to host one of the most awe-inspiring athletic competitions in the world.
This jaw-dropping event sees the sporting elite plunge from 27 metres and hit the water at speeds of 85kph just three seconds later, even managing to fit in some amazing tricks along the way. Taking place on 28 Oct, it’s the first time the UAE has hosted the event, too.
And while we don’t have any actual cliffs, we do have Pier 7, which will act as the diving board for this year’s event. The championship has previously taken place in Texas, Denmark, Portugal, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Bosnia & Herzegovina and now it’s coming to the UAE where the winners for both men and women will be crowned. A total of 15 divers take part, including the former Olympian Blake Aldridge from the UK.
So mark your calendar, because you definitely don’t want to miss this!
