The Kardashians Take Armenia
If their popularity ever wanes in America, the Kardashians will be relieved to know they have a loyal fanbase in Armenia. Kim and Kanye West were mobbed by devotees as they touched down in the country’s capital, Yerevan, last Wednesday, where the couple, their daughter, North, and Kim’s sister Khloé were treated like royalty as they dashed through crowds of fans in the Kardashians’ ancestral homeland.
Kardashian News Flash
Local TV news networks interrupted shows to broadcast the family’s arrival live as Kim posted online: “Armenia we are here! We’re so grateful to be here and start this journey of a lifetime! Thank you to everyone who greeted us! I can’t wait to explore our country”. The family were there to pay tribute to victims of the Armenian genocide as the nation prepared to mark the 100th anniversary of killings by Ottoman Turks on 24 April. During the trip they were given a grand tour of Armenia and were even greeted by the country’s Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamyan. Prime Minister Abrahamyan heaped praise on the girls for staying in touch with their Armenian roots and remembering the sombre centenary. In turn, Kim and Koko promised to study the Armenian language during their stay.
The Armenian Land Deal
On Friday, the Kardashians paid a visit to Yerevan’s Tsitsernakaberd memorial, where they showed their respect for the 1.5 million lives lost by laying a bouquet of red tulips. While there, they listened to a talk from Suren Manukian, the Deputy Director of the Armenian Genocide Institute, about the upcoming milestone. Earlier in the day, the Kardashians were gifted a plot of land by bosses of a private property firm, and Khloé boasted about the news to her siblings Kourtney and Rob, who’d stayed behind in Los Angeles, on Facebook, where she showed off the certificates naming them as landowners. In the caption, she wrote: “Kourt and Rob we got you a souvenir! Land in Armenia!”
The Special K's have KOUSINS
The homecoming trip is the first time either sister has been to Armenia, so they wanted to take as many family members along as possible for the experience. Kim took the opportunity to unveil her cousins, who not only share a strong family resemblance but also have names that start with the letter K, via Instagram. “Khloé and I brought along our cousins Kourtni and Kara Kardashian. We miss you, Krista! Yes, we have three cousins who are sisters that all start with a K too! Lol.” Kourtni, Kara and Krista live in Fresno, California, but as long as Kim wants to stay on top, we don’t think they’ll get their own spin-off show any time soon.
