The Ice Cream Diet

Here at Ahlan! HQ we’re constantly trying the latest food fads or buying into the hottest weight-loss trends, so when we heard about the ice cream diet, testing it out was a no-brainer! The meal plan promised to help us lose between 6lb and 10lb in three days, while satisfying our sweet cravings, so we had to give it a go! It’s not one for long-lasting results, but if you’re after a quick fix to help you squeeze into that dress you’ve been dying to wear for ages, the diet is quick, easy and cost-effective. While we’re not suggesting the ice cream diet is a long-term healthy eating option, we can confirm it works. It’s been reported that the chemical reactions caused by the particular foods eaten help to speed up weight loss, although this hasn’t been proven. Each day you’ll only eat about 900 calories, so we think this might have something to do with it! The trick is to stick to the diet EXACTLY – that includes the measurements and weights as well as the order in which you eat the food. Have as much water as you need, as all other drinks are banned, except for two cups of black tea or coffee each day.

Lost: 6lb
I’ve been known to try every fad diet going, and my weight is constantly up and down, so when I heard about the ice cream diet I thought: “Why not?” I won’t lie – it was really, really hard, especially when the rest of the team were out partying and I had to sit at home with my small portions, but the ice cream got me through it! Having that treat at the end of the day was a godsend! It really did work, and so far I’ve managed to keep off the weight that I lost.

Lost: 4lb
I have very little willpower and struggle to commit to any diet for the long-term, but I still like to give everything a go, so this three-day blitz seemed perfect for me. I really struggled with some of the food – I’m no fan of tuna, for example – but I discovered that I actually like beetroot (tip: try roasting it) and, of course, the ice cream was a bonus! While my weight loss wasn’t as impressive as Lindsay’s was, I think 4lb in three days is still pretty good – it’s perfect if you have a major event coming up that you’ll need to squeeze into a slinky dress for.

It’s clearly possible to stay in shape while indulging in the occasional frozen treat – as these skinny stars prove!
