The Final Countdown to Europe in Dubai!
Europe back in the day! We think they have less hair now

The Swedish rockers are playing a one-off show in Dubai, and they’ll be supported by top local bands The Boxtones and Ascendant. Not sure who they are? Here are our five fast facts on Europe (the band, not the country).

Five Things You Didn’t Know About Europe

1 The band were originally called Force and formed in Sweden in 1979.

2 After trying to find a record deal they were told they needed to cut their hair plus sing in Swedish to find success. They refused.

3 They hit the big-time after winning a talent contest which keyboard player Joey Tempest’s girlfriend entered them in. The prize was a record deal.

4 Their biggest hit The Final Countdown was number 1 in 25 countries in 1995.

5 After splitting in 1992, the band got back together with new and old members for a New Year’s Eve show in Sweden in 1999, before officially reuniting in 2003.
