Get ready to see the world’s top two in tennis battle it out in Abu Dhabi in 2015! Flash Entertainment announced on 20 July that world number 1 and Wimbledon 2014 winner Novak Djokovic and world number 2 Rafael Nadal will return to Abu Dhabi for the season-opening Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

The annual tournament, which brings together six of the world’s top players in a three-day event will take place from 1-3 January 2015 at the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi with a ‘winner-takes-all’ prize of $250,000 (Dhs918,275).

Current world number 1 Novak Djokovic made his Abu Dhabi debut in 2011 – and he has never lost a game at Mubadala since then! The Serbian tennis star will hope to continue his successful run at the tournament with an unprecedented fourth title in the championship.

Speaking at Wimbledon 2014, Djokovic said that the Mubadala tournament “draws the world’s top players and it is crucial for us to keep pushing and testing ourselves against each other, especially at the start of a new season”.

“We’re more than half way through the year now and with one major secured I feel that I am on track for a memorable year but there is plenty more work to be done before we catch that flight to the UAE,” he said, adding that he hopes to start to the New Year by securing his fourth straight title at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

The 2015 Mubadala tournament – now in its seventh year – will see the return of Rafael Nadal for the sixth time. Nadal has not won the championship since 2011, and is hoping to end Djokovic’s four-year run in 2015.

Speaking of the upcoming season, Nadal said “we have to plan ahead and make sure we give ourselves to best opportunities to start the year strong”.

Tickets for the Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2015 will go on sale on 22 July, with a pre-sale on 21 July exclusive to Flash Entertainment members.
