The MTV VMA’s final showdown

Following on from a year long feud after last year’s MTV VMA performance when Kanye crashed Taylor’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video - insisting Beyoncé should have won - the two singers were set to perform a song each in a final battle at this year’s awards. But did their performances really put the fire out?

Taylor who took to the stage first to perform her song for Kanye sang: "It's all right, just wait and see. Your string of lights is still bright to me. You're still an innocent."

Later in the night Kanye took to the stage and rapped: “Runaway. Let's have a toast for the douchebags…Baby, I got a plan. Runaway fast as you can.”

In the week prior to the awards ceremony Kanye released a statement to his Twitter fans saying: “I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it."

We’re not sure Kanye's lyrics convey his heartfelt apologie that he claimed his song answered but at least the MTV audience were the first to hear two unreleased songs.
