Swifties rejoice! Taylor Swift made an exciting announcement saying that she’s dropping the next track of her upcoming album “Lover” and it’s sooner than you’d think.
T-Swift broke the news at the Teen Choice Awards where she was awarded the first ever ‘Icon Award’: a blue, pink and purple surfboard decorated with pictures of her three beloved cats, that the song will be released on Friday, the 16th of August.
At the end of her acceptance speech, Taylor gushed, ”I wanted to tell you guys tonight that on the 16th, on Friday, I have a new song called ‘Lover’ that is coming out, and I’m so excited!”
As for the rest of her acceptance speech, she touched upon political issues including equal pay and gender equality and also fawned over her surfboard, saying that it was a “really proud moment” to see her furry babies on an award.
The title track will be the fourth single of the new album ‘Lover’ with ‘Me’, ‘Archer’ and ‘You Need to Calm Down’ previously released.
In an Instagram post back in June, Taylor revealed the album cover and explained more about what fans can expect from her longest ever album featuring 18 tracks in an Instagram Live stream.
“It’s very romantic and not just simply thematically, like it’s all love songs or something. I think that romance can be found in loneliness or sadness or going through conflicts in your life. [The album] just looks at things in a romantic gaze”
The entire album will release, a week later on the 23rd of August.
