Dubai is gearing up to flex its comedic muscles with the announcement that some of the world’s top comedy heavyweights are descending on the emirate this October for the inaugural Dubai Comedy Festival, taking place between 15th and 24th October.

International comedy icon, Dave Chappelle and the new host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, Trevor Noah will headline a 10-day programme of events, activities, promotions and appearances by local, regional and international comedians, for what is set to be the region’s largest comedy festival.

With tickets going on sale in the second week of September, organisers are expecting an overwhelmingly positive response from fans in the region, who can register now at www.dubaicomedyfest.ae to be first in line for ticket releases as well as have the opportunity to win backstage passes for headliner shows and access to insider experiences.

Famous for his shows that incorporate various alter egos including Aunty Merle, Smiley, Galatia, Pastor Brandon, Colleen and Travis, Marc Lottering is an entertainer not to be missed. The son of a Pastor, Marc’s colourful upbringing is often reflected in his comedy, establishing him as a favourite amongst audiences around the world. Scottish king of comedy is coming to Dubai! You probably know him from OSN’s Live at the Apollo, but don’t miss this comedian’s live act in Dubai on 12 December. Kevin has been busy on British television, including his very own documentary: Kevin Bridges – What’s the Story which was produced aired on BBC Television. Kevin’s DVD Kevin Bridges – The Story Continues has sold about 300,000 copies – and the tour of the same name is heading this year to Australia before it makes its stop in Dubai! Kevin’s autobiography We Need to Talk About is due for release soon.

Fab UK comedian John  Bishop will be playing in Dubai for one-night only before his 38-date UK arena tour this Autumn.“I’m delighted to have been asked to perform in Dubai and very much looking forward to my first ever show in the Middle East. Punchline Comedy Club in the UAE

Punchline Comedy Club is set to return to the UAE with two dates in Dubai plus one in Abu Dhabi and another in Sharjah. On the bill is award-winning, guitar-playing comedian Rob Deering, who has taken six shows to the Edinburgh Festival; Andrew Stanley, who has been invited to the prestigious Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal; and Canadian comic Paul Myrehaug, who has entertained troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Italy and Kosovo.

The gigs will be on at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai on Thursday 9 May, at Abu Dhabi’s The Clubhouse on Friday 10 May, Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Dubai on Thursday 16 May and Sharjah Rugby Club on Friday 17 May. Each evening starts at 7.30pm with pub food and the comedy begins at 9pm.
