Taste the High Life Inside the World's Poshest Plane Cabin
Want to fly like a star but can’t quite stump up the cash for a private jet? Etihad may have the answer.
The Abu Dhabi airline's A380 Airbus now features a brand-new cabin on its upper deck – and it comes with a living room, a separate double bedroom and an ensuite shower room. If that’s not enough, passengers lucky enough to be seated in the space, named The Residence, will enjoy the services of their own personal butler trained at London’s exclusive Savoy Butler Academy.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “These new living spaces will raise inflight product and service standards to their highest level yet in commercial aviation and alter air travellers’ expectations of inflight comfort and luxury forever.”
Each A380 plane will offer a boutique version of The Residence decorated in unique colour palettes and custom-made carpets. Its ‘guests’ will also be served by a dedicated VIP Travel Concierge team who’ll ensure their every whim is catered for, from ground transport to food.
To coincide with the Residence’s launch, the Abu Dhabi-based airline has renamed its other cabin classes. Instead of First Class there are nine First Apartments – individual private suites each equipped with a full-length bed, a reclining lounge chair, a wardrobe and a chilled mini-bar. You’ll have access to a shower room, and there’s even a mirror and ‘vanity unit’ so you can touch up your lippie.
Its ‘Business Studios’, also come with fully flat beds, but if, like Team Ahlan!, you're resigned to flying Economy, don’t feel left out – you’ll get free Wi-Fi, seats with lumbar support and an 11in personal monitor so you can browse the web at the same time as watching films.
