Tala's Bridal Picks for Spring 2016
I talk about The Bride Show and what I got up to!
Last weekend, I got to work on an exciting project with The Bride Show. I was invited to give a fashion and beauty talk on the main stage during the event, as well as judge the Recycle Runway Awards, where students around the UAE were asked to create outfits made out of 80 per cent recycled material. I was super impressed by the entries, especially with the gentleman who created a chic dress made out of rice bags! As for me, I wore a gorgeous dress by local brand Bambah for
I’m no bride-to-be, but I did get carried away with the dresses when it came to doing research. If you’re shopping for one, here’s a mini trend report on what to look at this year. A tip, though – go for something that works for your body, your style and something you don’t find too avant-garde – you want to look back in 10 years’ time and still be happy with your choice!
• Long Sleeves: For women who don’t like to show too much skin, this trend works in your favour. I especially love the Monique Lhuillier gown from the Bridal Spring 2016 show.
• Corsets: If you love strapless dresses, there were several on the runways this season in corset form.
• Tulle: I love how delicate and understated tulle looks in a wedding dress when done right. I really like how Carolina Herrera puts her dresses together – they have a beautiful dusty rose-shade tulle bottom.
• Off the shoulder: If strapless isn’t your thing, but you want to show off your shoulders, I’m loving off-the-shoulder dresses. This one by Lela Rose is so simple, yet looks so beautiful and is perfect styled with a low chignon.
